The American Congress ended a trade agreement with Bolivia, Columbia, and Ecuador, and in response the Columbian government has extended subsidies and sought a Free Trade Agreement with the US, all of which points to Columbia seeking political alternatives to US-Columbian relations.

A recent study suggested that discrimination against overweight people - particularly women - is as common as racial discrimination. The study compared self-reported weight discrimination against experiences of discrimination based on race and gender among a nationally representative sample of adults aged 25 - to 74-years-old. The study also found "that women are twice as likely as men to report weight discrimination and that weight discrimination in the workplace and interpersonal mistreatment due to obesity is common."

Employers will face greater pressure to provide more flexibility in benefits packages and work policies; they are likely to respond by disaggregating benefits or flexibility options and letting employees pick and choose. Employees with less bargaining power or in less skilled industries will face fewer choices.
